Reading Between Friends

 

Reading Between Friends is an interactive way for students to work on their reading skills while helping comfort and reduce anxiety felt by shelter pets. Participants are able to interact with their "reading friend" for a short time before they sit down for quiet reading time with either a cat, dog or small animal.

  • Monday afternoon from 4-5PM (October-May)

  • Ages: 5-16 (adults may participate)

  • cats & small animals: 5-16

  • cats, small animals and dogs: 12-16

  • $7 per family each time

  • Pre-registration required (spaces are limited)

  • Students under 7 must be accompanied by an adult

  • Animals are selected by a staff member
