Shelter Sponsorships are seen by the thousands of visitors who come to Humane Society of West Michigan each year and are a thoughtful way to memorialize a beloved family member, pay tribute to a family pet (past or present), and are an effective way to advertise a business. These annual sponsorships also promote community involvement and show support of HSWM’s work.

Where do your donations go?

General Fund
The HSWM General Fund is an umbrella fund that includes our most important areas such as animal care and support. Donations to the ​General Fund help with high priority items including food, litter, microchips, spay and neuter surgeries, and so much more! ​Taking care of our animals and providing humane education in the community requires significant supplies and equipment, and we could not do it without you.

​Community Resource Program 
​​2020 taught us all many things, including that even loving pet owners fall on hardship, especially financial hardship. As a nation, we watched animals bring comfort, hope, and consistency to the lives of their families. We watched children hold pets while virtually learning as parents were losing jobs. At HSWM we want to do all we can to keep these animals with their families. In launching this new program, we have high aspirations. In the next five years we aim to become the hub for any pet-related resources needed: medical support, behavioral support, temporary housing, fee-waived stray surrender and reclaim, community cats programming/TNR, public spay/neuter, re-homing assistance, lost and found support, and anything that can support pets remaining with their families whenever possible.

Buddy Fund
HSWM’s Buddy Fund was started in January of 2003 by Deborah Meijer and has since become an integral part of our veterinary care program.  The fund was originally developed to help Buddy, a yellow Labrador Retriever who came to us with a badly broken leg. Thanks to all those who contributed to the special Buddy Fund, his leg was repaired and he was adopted into a loving and caring home. This fund supports animals that need above-and-beyond medical care when they come to HSWM.
Monetary gifts or donations of items from our wish list are also an excellent way to help.

If bringing items for donation, please place them in the front atrium entrance of our facility.
HSWM is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization - in-kind donation receipts are available upon request.
