Humane Society of West Michigan is Open
By Appointment Only!
Our facility is open to the public by appointment only for adoptions. Please note that face masks will be required for all members of the public, volunteers, and staff. Social distancing will be enforced both inside and outside of the facility. We ask that those arriving for an appointment limit their party size. If you are feeling sick the day of your appointment, please stay home and contact our staff at email@example.com to reschedule.
To get started, click here view our adoptable animals. At this time, please apply for one animal you are interested in through the animal's profile. An HSWM Adoption Counselor will review applications and reach out to adopters for a phone consultation in the order in which applications are received. Response times may vary due to increased volume of applications. Please do not email or call us regarding your application, we will contact you as soon as we are able!
After your phone consultation, staff will reach out to schedule a virtual meet and greet via Zoom OR a socially-distanced meet and greet at the shelter with the animal you applied for. With a large number of animals in foster homes, many animals are not able to be viewed at the facility. We will continue to offer our virtual No Contact Adoptions to those adopting foster animals and those not able to come to our facility!
All adoptions will be done over the phone from home or from your car in our parking lot. Payment and contracts can be completed from home or in the car via an internet-enabled smart phone. Once all paperwork is completed, you may take your new best friend home if at the shelter, or we will schedule a time for you to pick up your new companion if adopted virtually!
Pickup will be contact-free, with important documents being sent electronically when available. Head home with your new family member and enjoy your new life together!
We appreciate your patience and support during this time. We look forward to seeing you again and continuing to help animals in need find loving homes! Questions about this new process? Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org
All volunteer trainings, events, and other non-adoption programs will remain suspended until further notice.
