Youth Camps


Humane Society of West Michigan knows the importance of educating children through experience. We offer camps throughout the year to educate children on animal welfare, as well as giving them an enjoyable experience. Through games, crafts, animal time, and more your child will learn life lessons and have a fun filled experience that will be with them for a lifetime!

All Camps run 9:00am-4:00pm (aftercare is available until 5:15pm for an additional $10 a day per camper). 


Summer Camps​

Kids Week Out: 
This camp allows you to sign your camper or campers up for one, two or all 5 days of camp. This is a great camp for first time campers or those not sure they want to commit to a whole week.  It will feature guest speakers, games, crafts and so much more! We will provide age appropriate activities for campers of all ages.

​Animal Academy:
Campers who are interested in learning about how to care for animals can engage in enrichment training, agility training, and other animal activities for dogs, cats and small animals.

Intro to Animal Care for Junior Campers:
Campers who are interested in learning about how to understand animals can engage in basic care, animal body language, training exercises, and other animal activities for dogs, cats and small animals.

June 20th - June 24th - FULL

Back to Nature: Exploring Your Backyard:
Each day of this camp will be filled with animal interaction time, activities, games and crafts geared toward a variety of animals and nature in our own backyard. We will provide age appropriate activities for campers of all ages.

HSWM Mini Camp: 
An engaging camp for animal lovers to learn about companion pets filled with activities, games,  and crafts. Great for first-time campers! We will provide age appropriate activities for campers of all ages

Vet & Animal Careers Camp:
This camp focuses on animal welfare careers with a special focus on becoming a vet or vet tech. Students who are seriously interested in a career in veterinary science can engage in hands on activities, watch a live surgery, hear from guest speakers and enjoy animal interaction time. Throughout the day we will also focus on other animal welfare careers by learning and listening to those who work in these jobs each day.

Animal Planet Camp: 
​Each day this camp will be filled with animal interaction time, activities, games and crafts geared toward a variety of animals from our planet.

Media Mutts:
This camp offers a variety of multimedia fun for campers who enjoy art and theatre. In this camp, students will create a animal-themed music video and take part in a variety of other fun projects! This camp is great for returning campers or kids who love to create!

‘FUN’draising: 
This camp will focus on ways to fundraise for animal care. Campers will choose items to make and sell at a public marketplace, learn about marketing, set up donation drives and more!! Guest speakers and animal time will also be a part of this camp.

My First Pet: 
This camp is for our younger campers and will help kids understand basic animal care and safety of dogs, cats and small domestic animals. It will feature animal time, guest speakers, games, crafts and so much more!

Winter Camp

Humane Society of West Michigan offers a three day Winter Camp to keep your child active and learning during the holiday break! Campers will enjoy animal time, play games, make crafts, and meet new friends!

Registration will open November, 2022! 

Spring Break Camp

​Humane Society of West Michigan offers a fun and exciting experience at our Spring Break camp! Spring Break camp is a great place for your child to learn, grow, and make new friends!
  • ​Cost: $40 per day of $130 for all four days
  • Recommended Ages 7-12

Junior Camp Counselor
​
Students between the ages of 15-17 can volunteer their time to earn service learning hours. Students should be interested in gaining experience working as a team, helping children between the ages of 5-12 and working with shelter animals.
