Third Party Events Descriptions
If you are interested in hosting HSWM for an educational or youth event, please see the following link: Schools, Classrooms, & Youth Organizations - Humane Society of West Michigan (hswestmi.org)
Fundraiser Event:
Thank you for your interest in hosting a fundraiser event to benefit the Humane Society of West Michigan! For these events, we ask that you contact HSWM through our Event Interest Form to let us know about your plans to host a fundraiser. We can create graphics and advertisements to promote your fundraiser using our brand standards and fun shelter animal photographs! There is no minimal donation amount for these events, and we do accept monetary donations as well as animal goods (please see our attached wishlist for high valued items). We appreciate your dedication to helping our shelter and shelter animals!
Adoption Event:
Thank you for your interest in hosting an adoption event to benefit the Humane Society of West Michigan! For these events we are able to bring along adoptable animals from our shelter to find their new homes at your proposed location! Adoption events should be held in high traffic/public areas where potential adopters will be present. If you are looking to host an event for a group/team/company to play and interact with animals, please see our animal party option.
We prefer to keep these events to a 2-3 hour maximum to help keep our animals from getting over-stressed. We do our best to bring adoptable puppies or kittens to these events, but in some cases may need to bring adult animals in their place. Because of the nature of our animal shelter and our animals being up for adoption until the start time of events, we are unable to guarantee the type of animals/breeds/number of animals coming with us. As a result, there may be a late cancelation from our end in the case that we do not have available animals to attend the event with us. To help us cover staff time, volunteer recruitment, promotions, resources, and travel expenses we do request a $125 an hour donation to be made to the Humane Society of West Michigan to help us facilitate these events. There are many ways for your event group to fundraise prior to the event to cover these expenses, so if you would like ideas, please see below!
For these events, we can host them inside of a building using xpens to contain the adoptable animals in a secured space. We will also bring cleaning supplies in case there are any messes! We do ask to be in a place where animals do not frequent to help avoid any cross contamination.
We are also able to host these events outside in our adoption trailer. This trailer is hauled by a pickup truck and the back of the trailer is laid down for guests to enter so we ask for a minimum of four parking spaces to be reserved for us to properly park. This gives a new experience to our adoption events as guests can interact with the animals in their own kennels inside of our trailer for a more one-on-one experience.
For both layouts of these adoption events, we can bring our branded merchandise to be sold as well as educational information about what services we provide in our shelter.
Animal Party:
Thank you for your interest in hosting an animal party with the Humane Society of West Michigan! For these events, we can bring shelter animals to your establishment to reward staff members for a job well done, help alleviate stress during a difficult time, or just to bring smiles to people's faces with cute animals!
