Summer Camps
Humane Society of West Michigan knows the importance of educating children through experience. We offer camps throughout the year to educate children on animal welfare, as well as giving them an enjoyable experience. Through games, crafts, animal time, guest speakers, and more your child will learn life lessons and have a fun filled experience that will be with them for a lifetime!
Every summer camp will include daily animal interaction, crafts, guest speakers, games, and activities!
Camps run 9am-4pm. Aftercare is 4-5pm

Preview Week!: June 3rd - June 6th
These camps are a preview of four of our more popular camps. Each camp will contain elements of the weeklong camps as well as crafts, games, guest speakers, and animal time!!!

Kids Week Out: June 10th - June 13th
This camp allows you to sign your camper or campers up for one, two or all four days of camp. This is a great camp for first time campers, those not sure they want to commit to a whole week, or families with campers in all age ranges. We will provide age-appropriate activities for all our campers. We will have crafts, games, guest speakers, and animal time!

Animal Academy: June 17th - June 20th
This camp focuses on animal welfare careers; focusing more on the behavior side (training, behaviors. and enrichment.). In this camp we will learn training techniques. run dogs through agility and hear about different jobs in the animal welfare world.

Media Mutts: June 24th - June 27th
This camp offers multimedia fun for campers who enjoy art. music and theater. In this camp, students will create an animal-themed music video and take part in a variety of other fun projects! This camp is great for returning campers and junior extroverts!

HSWM Holiday Kids Week Out: July 1st - July 3rd
An engaging camp for animal lovers to learn about companion pets filled with activities. games. and crafts. Great for first-time campers and those families with campers in multiple age groups! We will provide age-appropriate activities for all campers.

Animal Planet Camp: July 8th - July 11th
Each day this camp will be filled with animal interaction time. guest speakers. activities. games and crafts geared toward a variety of animals from our planet.

'FUN'draising: July 15th - July 18th
This camp will focus on elements of fundraising for HSWM. Campers will break into teams and create products to sell at an HSWM Marketplace open to the public on July 18th. They will create signage, promotions and set up and run their own booths at the Marketplace. This is a great camp for kids who are creative or artistic.

Junior Vet Camp: July 22nd - July 25th
This camp is for the kids interested in being future veterinarians but are too young for the vet camp. We will build vet offices and learn the basic process of vet care through daily activities.

Vet Camp: July 29th - August 1st
Campers who are seriously interested in a career in veterinary science can engage in hands-on activities, watch live surgery, perform a dissection (optional), hear from guest speakers and enjoy animal interaction time.

HSWM 101: August 5th - August 8th
Campers will learn about all the parts that make the Humane Society run! We will work on marketing, adoptions, community outreach, animal safety and promoting responsible pet ownership. Our activities will be geared towards these areas.

Fun Fridays!: June 28th, July 26th, August 16th
Each month we will host a Fun Friday open to all campers registered for a 2024 summer camp. You will find this fun add-on at the check-out portion of your summer camp registration. Fun Fridays will be filled with animal time. guest speakers. carnival games and prizes. treats and water fun!!!!

Aftercare:
Daily from 4-5pm. During aftercare, we will have art supplies available for the campers. This is a service for parents who work later than 4pm or need extra time to pick up their campers. We will provide an aftercare snack.
